The cartoon show Tom and Jerry is an indispensable part of everybody’s childhood. Years have passed by, but I never get bored of watching the show whenever it aires on Television. When in school, I remember how we used to be desperate to go home from school because we wanted to be up-to-date with the latest episodes.
The legendary director, Gene Deitch, who gave us Tom & Jerry is no more. Thanks to him for all the memories and for making our childhood wonderful. The entire story is told only through visuals and that was more than enough to captivate the audience. The show has won more Oscars than any other animated series! We would laugh our guts out when Tom hilariously pursued the little Jerry and failed each time. Truth be told, it’s much better than the kids shows we have today. With the sheer amount of hard work and creativity that went into making it, it is no surprise that Tom & Jerry retains it’s popularity even today.
Though Tom would always try to get a hold of Jerry, he still harbored a soft corner for him and so would, in fact, show his gentle side in a few episodes and then go back to chasing him again. They shared a love-hate relationship. We all have someone like that in our lives who annoys the hell out of us but is also a great friend when in need. My pets Happy and Lucky remind me of these two. They belong to different breeds and are two years apart. Lucky is a healthy golden retriever, while Happy is a tiny Shih Tzu, much like Tom & Jerry. They sometimes fight, jump all around the house and wreak havoc, and I scream “Stop acting like Tom & Jerry, you two!”. They also care deeply for each other when one of them is sick and join forces to fight other dogs. 🤣 I also have a friend with whom I share a love-hate relationship. We annoy each other. We even go to the extent of saving our contact numbers as Tom and Jerry but the secret is I am the Tom in the relationship.
So tell me guys, who is the Tom/Jerry in your life?
