I have always believed that experiences shape us and give us more confidence. Why am I bringing this up? Guess you’ll just have to read to find out.😉
What would you do if you have to get to an important meeting in half an hour and your driver bails because he’s not well? It’s stressful, isn’t it? Something like that happened to me. One day, I had a very important meeting to get to in 30 minutes, but my driver called me and told me that he wasn’t feeling well. So I told him to rest and I proceeded to book a cab. I could not postpone the meeting because it would mess with my schedule. After a while of me booking a cab, I decided to drive instead of as the cab was taking too long, but I wasn’t very confident about my driving. Sure, I had gone to a driving school before, but it didn’t help me become confident. Anyway, I somehow managed to convince my mom (who was scared) to sit in the car and was on my way. It was a little scary but also funny because it felt like the people were walking faster than I was driving the car, Haha!
When I managed to reach the place, I only found one parking spot. Since I did not know how to park properly, I did not want to take a risk. I kept driving further and came across an empty ground and parked my car. I was later shocked to notice how far I had come but still decided to walk it. My mom sarcastically exclaimed we should have just walked to the meeting rather than drive. 😛
I finally know how to drive well, and for that, I have to thank a driver named Shiva. Confidence comes from certain people in our life, someone who assures us and guides us well. Shiva once told me he had to leave when I was shooting for a movie called Uggram, in Mysore. He was also a farmer. He told me he had to go for a while as his crops were ready to harvest and would spoil if he did not collect it in time. I was worried. How could we give him a break while I was shooting for a movie? It would have been so difficult for me to manage with all the schedules lined up. He insisted, he had to go. I questioned him how I would manage with him gone as I wasn’t getting a replacement at such short notice. He assured me that he would teach me before he left, which won’t take so long since I already know the basics.
He patiently taught me how to drive a car every day after the shoot. He taught me on the main roads of Mysore, with all the cars around. That’s when I gained a lot of confidence! He made sure I knew how to drive before he left. When he came back to work after a few days, he even appreciated my driving. I’m now a pro at driving! Touchwood.🙈 Not once have I gotten a scratch on my car. I have started loving cars! Now, I no longer have to wait for a driver, thanks to Shiva! I want to go somewhere? That’s okay! I’m just going to grab my car keys and be on my way!😎
