We need to work out to keep fit and healthy. I change my workout routine from time to time to keep it fun. Usually, I have a trainer who comes home to train me, but sometimes I take a break from a workout at home and participate in outdoor activities such as cycling, badminton, horse riding, or dancing. There was a time I went for aerobics and used to go to the gym once in a while. I’d only go to the gym when I get bored of working out at home.
A few years ago, I recall how excited my brother and I were about going to the gym. We were so bored of working out at home. We registered in a newly opened gym close to our house. It was very well equipped. We had planned to enroll for a month or three if there was a good package available huh! But we settled on an annual package. The excitement to join the gym made us buy new clothes and matching shoes, Haha! The night before we started our gym session, we huddled together and started to plan. When we go to the gym, we would first have to do cardio and then move on to weights. So instead of doing that, we should just cycle to the gym.🙈 We thought we were so smart for coming up with that idea. It was too late by the time we figured out it wasn’t a very good idea.
The next day, we were all ready with gloves and helmets. My mom was looking at us with an amused look and told us, ‘ I see you both are excited. Let’s see how long it’s going to last’. We waved goodbye with huge smiles and were on our way. After a few miles we suddenly came across a slope. We were already exhausted and now had to walk up the hill because it was difficult to pedal. We had another kilometer left to get to the gym! I figured that the plan only sounded better in my head. 🙄 I wanted to go back home and go to the gym in the car, but since everyone had already seen us leave on our bikes, my brother told me it’s best to continue, or it won’t look nice. At that time, I might not have thought so, but it was a funny situation.
We finally reached the gym after a while. I almost cried tears of joy. I was so tired, and we hadn’t even started gymming yet! My gym trainer looked at us and told us, ‘ Why would you cycle on the first day to the gym? You should not overdo your training on the first day! I understand your excitement, but you should have worked out in the gym! You should have gone cycling some other time.’ Thank god, He made us do light workouts. By the time it was time to go, I just couldn’t move. I remember fighting with my brother and requesting him to go home and get the car for me. But, in the end, both of us dragged ourselves back home in the cycle and decided to never go to the gym via cycle again. Turns out my mom was right, we stopped going to the gym after a week, haha! The package had also gone to waste. Initially everything seems exciting , but to sustain it takes a lot of effort. For me my movies motivate me to mould my body to prepare me for my roles. What about you? What’s your motivation?
