In one funny instance, I had sent my very shy friend to buy lingeries for me. We’re talking about a popular brand that’s not available anywhere in India. We’ve been friends for a long time, but yet I was hesitant to ask him. I had sent him links of what I was looking for, instructed him not to open it and show it only to the sales girl. This was his first time shopping for female apparel and he had no idea what to expect.

We Indians, Asians in general, tend to be shy and conservative when it comes to discussing these things in public. I’m sure he had his inhibitions. Without further ado, he quietly walked into the store hoping not to get noticed by someone he knew. He handed over the phone to the sales girl and walked far away from her. While he was looking the other way, a voice came out of thin air “Hey Mister! Is this the one you’re looking for?”. He turned around to see who it was. It was the sales girl! HAHA.

He panicked and kept staring at her. She had held the garment in her hand and this time even louder she said “IS THIS THE ONE” prompting the other customers to look at her, and in turn look at him (as she was looking at him.). He ended up feeling embarrassed but told himself that he wasn’t doing anything wrong. After all, it was only a piece of cloth. He mustered the courage to somehow finish shopping. When the gifts arrived, I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation into which I had thrown my friend. 🤭
