We’ve all, at least once in our lives been through an incident that shakes us to the core. The memories of this incident are still afresh. We had recently moved to a new house.
I was tired from the day’s shoot and ready to go to bed. Mom had told me to ensure all the doors were properly locked. I did and proceeded to sleep.
11:30 PM It was a cold and breezy night. Suddenly, I heard a faint noise coming from the balcony. I brushed it off thinking it was the breeze hitting the door. I closed my eyes and proceeded to go back to sleep again. In a panic, my mom woke me up when she heard the same sound. I woke up, seemingly aghast at the thought that an intruder was at the door and my mom gestured me to recall if all the doors were properly closed. The noise had grown louder and louder. The gut-wrenching sound came from the main door. It was as though somebody was hopelessly trying to break into the house. I clearly recalled locking all the doors but did not have the courage to go out of my room. My heart was pounding. We were both petrified. We had never experienced something of this nature before. A thousand thoughts ran through my mind. “Could it be a thief? Could it be a murderer or something supernatural?” Whatever it was, I was not prepared to face it head-on. I picked up my phone and quickly dialed my friends because I did not have my neighbour’s contact numbers. (Remember, new house?) The calls were unanswered.
To be continued…
