I’ve always enjoyed learning new things. I believe that we always have something new to learn every day. I used to have a list of activities that I wanted to learn noted in a book. Since I was a child, I’ve enrolled in various summer camps to learn. I aimed at learning as many things as I could, whether it was mehendi, sketches, dancing, or singing. But ever since I joined the industry, I hardly had the time to learn. But when I did get the time, I learnt horse-riding. I still had a few activities pending on the list, violin being one of them. 🎻
I, one day, decided to learn the violin during a two-month break. My mother immediately appointed a violin teacher for me. On the first day, he started recommending the sort of violin I should buy. The more he spoke about the violin, the more excited I got. I started imagining different scenarios in my head. The best scenario is me confessing my love to someone the way it happens in movies, with the violin, roses, and everything! Haha! I was completely fixated on that fantasy of mine!

Playing the violin was not easy. One wrong string can make a huge difference. My mother would watch me attempt to play the violin during my classes. On the third day, she could not control her laughter. I kept making funny noises while playing the violin! After that, every time it was time for my class, she would go to her room and close the door. She knew if she sat there, she would laugh and make me laugh in turn, and that would mess up my session. Within a week, I was able to learn the basics of the violin, but I still found it to be a difficult instrument! We have only four strings, and in that, I had to play ‘ Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa’! I found it difficult even though I continued to practice after class! After another week also, I continued to make so many mistakes; that the teacher himself started to make the mistakes that I was making! What can I say? I’m just too influential 😛 My mom who was walking around at that time, ran inside her room laughing. Suddenly we were all laughing.
Later, I realized the violin is just not for me. My shoots had also started, so I had no time to spare for it. I quit the violin. I still have the violin at my house. It’s been way too long since I even touched it. Maybe in the future, I might get back to it.
