Travel is always on my mind. I always make sure we have good music, good food, and good company. Traveling with my family and friends is the best. We have traveled together to so many places and made amazing memories. I want to tell you guys about one incident that happened while traveling to Kemmangundi. We spent an amazing day in Mullayanagiri. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Karnataka. A friend in the group suggested that we better visit Kemmangundi because it’s just a few kilometers away from where we were. So we were off to Kemmangundi.
We were having a blast in the car. We were chatting, singing, story building, stopping in between for more snacks, and having the time of our lives… as always. While driving, we came across two cross-roads. One road was the shortcut and the other road was a longer route with a better view. We decided to take the longer route because we wanted to enjoy the scenery and also we were gonna stay back the same night too. We stopped in between to exchange seats as I wanted to sit in the front seat to enjoy the view better. We had to go a little slow, due to the muddy roads and potholes; It must have rained the previous night. Suddenly we hear honking behind us. So my friend who was driving at the time moved to give them space.
However, two bikes go in the front and continue honking. We then turned around to see four bikes with two on each bike and already two bikes were in the front with two on each bike. It seemed like they were chasing us! We were driving on a route with no other vehicles around and no network to contact anyone. We started speeding up. The bikers began surrounding us. We were terrified! My friend somehow kept evading them and driving.
My mother and I were the only women in the car. My mom took out her small pepper spray from her handbag. One biker stopped in front of the car, but we managed to evade him too. We had empty bottles in the car from the previous night’s party and were prepared to use them in case we were attacked. Suddenly one bike fell due to a pothole. I was worried but could not stop to check at the given situation. They kept chasing us for a long time. We finally saw a checkpoint. Thank God! Luckily for us, police officers were present. We thought of approaching the police, but before we could, the bikers passed the checkpoint.
Later the police approached our car and asked me to roll down the window. Suddenly we saw as the bikers parked their bikes and started approaching the car with a smile. While rolling down the window I was feeling equally nervous and confused about what was happening. Then the police greeted me and informed us that the bikers had been following me for so long because they were huge fans of mine, and simply wanted a picture with me.
We were so shocked, and suddenly all of us burst out laughing. It was very very sweet that they took an entirely different route just to take a picture with me. We didn’t realize they were college students because of their built. We all got out of the car to take pictures with them, including the police. We bid them farewell and started towards our destination laughing about the recent occurrence. The journey continued in full swing.
