Swift desire was the first car I bought with my savings. I have a lot of memories associated with that car (Good, Bad and Ugly and that’s a story for another day). I used to feel so nice travelling to shoots in my car 😍 I had drivers who assisted me and also troubled me! People with cars must be familiar with driver problems. HAHA . I have many incidents to share but for now, I will be sharing this one incident that happened almost 10 yrs ago. This driver (I don’t remember his name) was good at driving. (Read further, and you will know)
One day, we returned home after a shoot. I went inside and waited for my driver to park and handover the keys to me at the entrance (Back then, our parking area was opposite to my house gate, in front of a light pole ) I wanted to go freshen up but I was waiting for him to leave.
Driver- Please give me the car cover.
Me: Why today? We have a shoot in the morning
Driver- I cleaned it really well today, Ma’am. I’ll cover and leave.
Me: Oh! Okay.
Later, he handed over the keys to me and left.
The next day, I got ready and I was waiting for him but he never showed up. I called him multiple times but his phone was switched off. I waited for a really long time. Nothing can make shoots wait, you know! We have to be there on time or else, it’s a huge loss for the producer. Hence I decided to drive to the shoot and pulled down the car cover. I was about to sit inside the car and I noticed small pieces of headlights scattered all over the road! I looked around my car and I was shocked to find the backlights broken. I saw that the light pole had scratch marks on them! HUHHH Then, I figured the whole incident. He must have hit the pole while reversing the car yesterday and had asked me for the cover to hide the mess. Before I could even realize, he switched off the phone and ran away! There was no need for speed!
I always want people to own up to their mistakes and embrace them. I believe nobody does anything intentionally. I mean, it could have been an accident! I would have understood and claimed my insurance that’s it. My only question is, why did he think acting smart was a better choice?
